They are committed to creating a positive environment where students can learn, grow and build self confidence. Whitby Dance Company also offers birthday parties , in which a class and routine are specially choreographed. There are also rental opportunities.
HOW DID YOU GET STARTED IN YOUR BUSINESS?
Opportunity. I always thought about owning my own dance studio one day – therefore when the opportunity presented itself I had to take it. Thankfully, I have an amazing support system that helped me along the way. We all share the same passion and drive for dance and success.
HOW DID THE HELP YOU GOT FROM BACD IMPACT YOU AND YOUR BUSINESS?
The BACD helped steer me in the right direction and gave me an extra boost of confidence to really make this dream happen. Their resources and seminars gave me the knowledge I needed to properly start and most importantly maintain my business.
WHAT DO YOU DO TO KEEP ABREAST OF CHANGES IN YOUR BUSINESS AND IN YOUR INDUSTRY?
I always put my best foot forward, and keep striving to do better. I listen to feedback and apply the necessary changes to ensure what I want my company to emulate is always being presented. I am constantly focusing on continuing my own education – training with master teachers and attending as many conventions and seminars that I can. I also highly encourage and support my staff in doing the same.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO SOMEONE WHO WANTS TO START THEIR OWN BUSINESS?
To enjoy the process. Its hard and nerve wracking. All the unknowns make you vulnerable. Stay confident, believe in what you are doing and be educated – always do your research!
