Frozen Delights Whitby

Frozen Delights Whitby is a portable business that sells frozen desserts throughout the town of Whitby. Some common locations include children's parks and tourist spots. As the owner of this business, I buy frozen desserts such as ice cream, popsicles, and sometimes even soft drinks. I then sell these on hot summer days to provide people with a cool, relaxing treat. For children at parks, or even tourists, purchasing ice cream from an ice cream truck on a regular basis is expensive. Frozen Delights Whitby provides an alternative to ice cream trucks, offering greater affordability and variety.

What inspired you to start your own business?
What inspired me to start Frozen Delights Whitby was demand. In my neighborhood park, I noticed a long line of people in front of an ice cream truck. It was a hot summer day and everyone was looking for a way to cool down. I noticed that after taking a look at the prices, some people left the line and others refused their children’s’ requests for ice cream. There was surely a demand for ice cream, but it was not very accessible for everyone. As an ice cream fan myself, I believe that having the frozen goodness in hand is what makes a good summer day great. The demand for ice cream is what inspired me to start Whitby Frozen Delights. Adding a sweet touch to people’s days is what motivates me to continue going.
What value did you receive from BACD?
One of the hardest parts of running a business is starting it. BACD provided me with ongoing support and helped me address every new challenge I faced. After helping me to register the business, my BACD program provider helped me to narrow down the specific workings of the business. Then, they helped me decide what is important to buy and how much I should invest in each piece of equipment. BACD also provided me with access to a competent mentor, who never held back in answering my questions and delivering insight. The sessions in marketing taught me how to best attract my target audience. I considered my brand as a separate identity for the first time and I learned that any marketing materials created for a business has to align with the business brand in order to establish a customer base.
