TOTAL MAN DEVELOPMENT (TMD) is a sports and athletics organization that operates in two distinct and complementary ways:
Athletic programs for young men focus on dynamic amateur and elite level sports (ALL SPORTS) specific training. This part of the organization was started in August of 2016 and continues to facilitate the demands of young athletes everywhere. TMD currently has 8 athletes playing at the next level for the top CIS universities and NCAA colleges with more in preparation. TMD is focused on meeting the objectives of each athlete as they define it, and is investing into the next generation of athletes.
Our personal development side of the organization is raising the standard through sports development to grow our athletes off the field. Education at the collegiate level remains a top priority for their overall success and is something we take seriously. There is nothing typical about TMD and our use of professional athletes is not common or readily available. Each athlete that comes to TMD gets a free one-on-one consultation from knowledgeable coaches where they are taken through our goal setting process. We have recently gone international with our recruiting and teaching programs to provide athletic, education and scholarship opportunities for international & soon to be professional athletes.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I always had a vision for my life. I always knew what I wanted and how I wanted to live it out. As a kid I always envisioned myself doing specific things in the future and I strongly believed in what I saw. Starting a Business for me was simple because I looked at it differently. What I really did was started my mission and that was the greatest inspiration because it gave my life purpose. I knew I had tremendous support in my life, I have the worlds’ greatest wife and with her encouragement and my drive nothing was going to stop me.
How did the help you got from BACD impact you and your business?
BACD has played a major role in the elevation and expansion of TMD. It opened my eyes to a new world because previous to TMD. My knowledge was limited. I came as far as I could with what I had and BACD propelled me farther.
What marketing strategies have been successful for you?
The best marketing strategy has been getting out there and getting in the game. That’s has been the #1 strategy and what we believe is really the only strategy.
Knowing who to connect with and recognizing the value each person brings to the table has been my success. Putting in the effort to build strong relationships and not being afraid to clearly communicate what I expect has gone a long way.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own business?
You have to know who you are, BELIEVE in what you’re doing, have a VISION for where you’re going and the drive to finish what you set out to do.
Seeing the bigger picture will allow you to keep focused on things outside of yourself so when hard times come they won’t defeat you because it’s not about you.
