Katalin Solyom

Certified interior decorator, owner of Kathy Design and a registered member of CDECA

Through consultation we come up with a design brief that meets our clients’ needs. We advise on colour trends, furniture styles, soft furnishings, furniture placement, product sourcing and decorating art and accessories. Depending on what the client needs, I arrange painters and trades for renovations or to get their homes ready for sale.

How did you get started in this business?

I worked as an actor for 8 years surrounded by beautiful furniture, theatre sets and costumes which helped to grow my love of decorating. After emigrating to Canada, I decided to take my passion and transform it into a business by completing the Home Decorating Certificate at Durham College.

As an interior decorator my objective is to create environments for my clients that brings them comfort, our homes are our castles and the impact of that cannot be undermined.

I like to help my client visualize their ideas while being mindful of their budgets.

Being European, I grew up in homes that were very different to here, we used rooms creatively, a dining room was not always the dining room! Sometimes it was the library too! I’ve noticed that this is something that is unique to me and it helps my in seeing the vision my client is trying to create.
