While there has been additional grants during COVID-19 for small businesses, there is in reality a reduction in the number of grants available to general business for start-up in the past few years.
This is a question we get frequently from entrepreneurs and business owners. As the CRA says "if it is an expense you incur in the course of doing business (marketing, networking, selling, operating etc.) then it's a business expense".
