ViBeat Dance Studio
ViBeat Dance Studio is where tradition meets rhythm, and culture comes alive through movement. Based in Oshawa, Ontario, ViBeat offers high-quality training in Indian Classical dance forms such as Kathak and Bharatanatyam, as well as Indian folk styles like Garba and Raas, for all ages and experience levels.
Founded by Darshini Shah, an internationally trained dancer and choreographer with decades of experience, ViBeat is more than a dance school—it's a cultural hub. We welcome children, teens, and adults to explore the rich heritage of Indian dance through fun, engaging, and empowering classes.
Whether you're looking to begin your first steps in classical dance, reconnect with your roots, or perform on stage, ViBeat offers personalized instruction, performance opportunities, and a supportive, inclusive environment.
At ViBeat, we don’t just teach dance—we inspire confidence, build community, and keep culture alive.
How ViBeat Dance Studio Is Keeping Culture Alive—One Step at a Time
When you walk into ViBeat Dance Class, you’re not just stepping into a dance class. You’re entering a space where tradition meets empowerment, where every rhythm tells a story, and where community and creativity thrive side by side.
The driving force behind it all? A passionate artist with a bold vision.
From Passion to Purpose
Darshini Shah, ViBeat’s founder has always had rhythm in her soul. Years of performing and teaching Indian classical dance—both across India and here in Canada—sparked something deeper than a love of movement. She saw a gap: a need for a space where Kathak, Bharatanatyam, and Indian folk dance weren’t just performed, but celebrated, preserved, and passed on.
“I started ViBeat Dance Studio to do more than teach steps,” she explains. “I wanted to create a safe, inclusive space that uses dance as a tool for cultural learning, education, and wellness. This isn’t just about choreography. It’s about building confidence, discipline, and emotional strength—especially for young people.”
Bridging Art and Entrepreneurship
Like many creatives-turned-founders, she had no shortage of talent or vision. But running a business? That’s a different dance entirely.
“I knew how to teach and choreograph, but I didn’t know how to structure my services, handle finances, or market my studio in a way that would help it grow sustainably.”
Enter the Business Advisory Centre Durham (BACD).
“I came to BACD for guidance on the business side of things—branding, marketing, funding, and strategy. What I found was a team that truly understood how to support entrepreneurs in the arts.”
Turning Vision Into a Business
With BACD’s support, ViBeat evolved from a dream into a well-structured cultural hub. Workshops and one-on-one consultations helped build a strong business foundation—complete with a clear growth plan, streamlined operations, and stronger outreach efforts. More importantly, the founder began to see herself not just as an artist, but as a business leader.
“BACD helped me bridge the gap between creativity and entrepreneurship. They gave me the confidence to lead this business with both heart and strategy.”
Community-Driven Growth
Today, ViBeat Dance Studio is thriving. Operating out of Oshawa, the studio offers regular classes for all ages in classical Indian styles and folk dance. Its reach extends well beyond the studio walls. Through partnerships with local schools, cultural centers, and festivals, ViBeat is bringing dance into the community, one joyful performance at a time.
The team includes a network of guest artists, admin support, and volunteers, all working together to expand access to cultural education. And as demand grows, so does the vision—to add more instructors and explore new locations throughout Durham Region and beyond.
Marketing with Meaning
When it comes to growth, ViBeat keeps things rooted in authenticity. Their most effective marketing strategies are all about connection. From participating in local events to offering trial classes, the studio has built trust by showing up and engaging.
Online, Instagram and Facebook have been game-changers—especially with reels, behind-the-scenes content, and targeted ads. Word-of-mouth referrals and email newsletters keep the energy going. Strategic partnerships with like-minded organizations further strengthen ViBeat’s presence in the community.
Advice for Future Founders
Asked what she’d tell other aspiring entrepreneurs, her answer is grounded and wise: “Believe in your vision—but build it with structure. Passion is your fuel, but planning is your map. Don’t try to do everything alone. Organizations like BACD are there to help. Ask questions. Stay authentic. And remember: consistency beats perfection.”
