Creative Mindz
Creative Mindz is more than just a tutoring company; it's a place where young learners from preschool to grade 8 are empowered to thrive both academically and personally.
Serving the Durham Region and GTA, they provide one-on-one and group tutoring in subjects like English, Math, French, and Coding. But what really sets Creative Mindz apart is their commitment to nurturing students’ confidence and leadership skills, preparing them for long-term success. They even offer volunteer opportunities for children, ensuring their growth extends beyond the classroom.
The inspiration for this venture came from the founder’s deep-rooted passion for working with children. As a Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE), they have always found joy in helping children excel. “Watching children succeed in our program and carry those lifelong skills gives me the drive to keep going,” the founder shared. It’s that sense of fulfillment—knowing they’re planting the seeds for future success—that keeps them motivated.
When it came to growing the business, Creative Mindz sought out the guidance of the Business Advisory Centre Durham (BACD). They needed support on how to scale effectively and find the right resources. BACD provided mentorship, advice on cash flow, and crucial networking opportunities with experienced entrepreneurs. “I learned so much, especially about legal matters and how to market my grand opening,” the founder said, highlighting the value of the mentorship received.
Since opening their Pickering location, Creative Mindz has grown to include three employees and currently supports 21 children. They offer a range of subjects, from core academic areas like Math and English to more specialized topics such as French and Coding, ensuring a well-rounded education for every student.
As for their marketing success, Creative Mindz has found word-of-mouth referrals and focused lead generation to be effective strategies for reaching new clients. Reflecting on their journey, the founder advises aspiring entrepreneurs to be patient and persistent: “There’s always going to be competition. If you believe in your product, stick to it and never give up.”
