Kiruthika Vamatheavan is a 22-year-old Tamil female entrepreneur. Her desire to establish a career in the flower business was inspired by her love of flowers, particularly roses. Kiruthika wanted to sell flowers, but she was seeking more sustainable and eco-friendly ways to do it. Her solution was to market preserved flowers.

The company offers international shipping and an in-person shopping experience in mall stores while selling real roses that last one to five years. For a year, she began selling online. She made the decision to do in-person business after a year of profitable online sales. The initial step was to rent a kiosk at Pickering Town Center for the month of February. It was in high demand. Then, in May 2022, she launched the grand opening of her first brick-and-mortar retail store in the Pickering Town Centre mall. In November 2022, she expanded her brand by launching a second retail location at Upper Canada Mall (Newmarket, ON).

What value did you receive from BACD?
One thing I learnt from BACD that was really difficult for me to achieve on my own is learning how to arrange cash flow, which is crucial while running a business. Throughout this journey, my mentor Patrice Esper has taught me many things, one of which is the need of planning in advance for my spending during particular months or seasonal times. I also learned how crucial networking is for my personal and professional life. I appreciate BACD for guiding me.
What marketing strategies have been successful for you?
Online marketing via platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and Tiktok is one of the marketing techniques that worked for the Rossahut brand. Additionally, our brand grew as a result of marketing with celebrities and influencers. Opening up our storefront greatly aided our word-of-mouth advertising. After south Indian celebrities shared images of themselves holding the roses, our product became quite popular in India. It was also shown on VIJAY TV, the most well-known entertainment channel in South India. We also shot an advertisement with a well-known south Indian actor, which helped our brand get popularity.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to start their own business?
Don’t be afraid of failure; if one door closes, another will open, this advice I would provide to someone who wishes to launch their own business. I have established several businesses before, including a clothing company, a start-up automotive tech company, and a beauty brand, all of which have failed. However, those failures have taught me a lot and given me experience. Failure will eventually lead to success, so keep pursuing your goals. Failure is okay just don’t give up on your dreams!
